The first-ever Commerce Carnival sponsored by the South Fairfax Chamber of Commerce was well-received by those who attended the Lorton 2023 Spring Fling. "We wanted to have a presence at this community event while also offering Chamber members the opportunity to interact with the public," says SFCC Vice Chair Terry Head of Compass Coaching & Consulting. The Chamber's Events Committee came up with several complimentary games and participating SFCC members supplied the prizes. "It was exciting," says Head. The community was invited to spin for prizes, play a matching card game or toss a corn hole bag. "People could win everything from a branded drinking tumbler, a bag of sweet treats or a gift card to a local business."
In addition to Head, participating South Fairfax members included Thomas W. Repczynski of Offit Kurman, Brian Gottlieb, Realtor, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, the Emma Jordon Kidz Fighting Cancer Foundation, and the Metropolitan School of the Arts.
"At the SFCC we really enjoy regularly networking with fellow members," says Head, "but this Commerce Carnival provided Chamber members the opportunity to engage with the community which is invaluable."
