The Family Fitness Fair is free and open to the public, and will feature informative exhibits and entertainment with music, games, a moon bounce, health screenings, and nutrition counseling.

Benefiting Academic and Athletic Programs at South County Secondary School

South Country Secondary SchoolThe South County Secondary School Athletic Boosters Club (SCSABC) and Parent, Teacher, Student Organization (PTSO) will receive all profits from the South Fairfax Chamber Challenge 10K Race, Family Fitness Fair and Fun Run. Many school programs have been eliminated or downsized due to the current County and State budget crisis. The SCSABC and PTSO are working hard to fill the gap left by reduced funding, and enrich the educational experience for students at South Country Secondary School.

The mission of the Athletic Booster Club is to bring the community together to provide the funding and volunteerism necessary to give the South County athletes the supplies, facilities and community support they need to reach their full potential as athletes. The SCSABC funds the maintenance of all school athletic fields to include fertilization, irrigation systems, paint for track and field markings, and purchase of turf equipment. This costs over $60,000 per year. SCSABC also contributes to replacement of uniforms and training equipment for all of the school's sports teams, and provides awards and scholarships to graduating seniors. These expenses are not funded by Fairfax County Public Schools and are essential to the athletics programs at SCSS.

The South County Secondary School Parent, Teacher, Student Organization provides financial support for a number of school programs in order to promote the highest degree of academic achievement for all students.  Programs funded by PTSO include improvements and advancements in technology, as well as academic enrichment programs, utilizing Super Saturdays, during which additional time is available for teachers and students to work together to review instructional materials and reinforce learning strategies and study skills in preparation for Advanced Placement and SOL exams.
